A look at the former Atlanta Braves eligible for the 2026 Hall of Fame

The Baseball Hall of Fame is expected to add at least one iconic Atlanta Braves name to its ranks Tuesday when the results of the Baseball Writers' Association of America vote are announced. Center fielder Andruw Jones, a defensive legend and power hitter during his 12 seasons in Atlanta, appears poised for election in his ninth year on the ballot.

Jones, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive outfielders in history, won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves and hit 434 career home runs, 368 of them with the Braves. His case, bolstered by a 67.0 fWAR and a standout 51-homer season in 2005, has gained steady momentum and is now tracking just above the required 75% threshold.

He is projected to join outfielder Carlos Beltrán, a near-lock for induction, and previously elected second baseman Jeff Kent in the July 26 ceremony in Cooperstown.

Other former Braves on this year's ballot include:

  • Cole Hamels (2020): The veteran left-hander, who made one appearance for Atlanta, is in his first year of eligibility and is expected to remain on the ballot but fall well short of election.

  • Nick Markakis (2015-20): The reliable outfielder is in his first year and will likely drop off the ballot.

  • Matt Kemp (2016-17): The former MVP runner-up is also a first-time candidate destined to fall short.

While Félix Hernández never officially pitched in a regular-season game for Atlanta after opting out in 2020, the former Cy Young winner is seeing his vote total rise and remains on a potential path to future induction.

The spotlight, however, remains fixed on Jones, whose potential election would enshrine a cornerstone of the Braves' perennial playoff teams and one of the most complete center fielders of his generation.
