Kansas coach Bill Self taken to hospital after feeling 'under the weather,' did not travel with team to Colorado

Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball head coach Bill Self was hospitalized Monday after feeling "under the weather," the university announced, throwing his status for Tuesday night's road game at Colorado into doubt.

The Hall of Fame coach received IV fluids at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and is reportedly feeling better, though no specifics about his condition were released. It is unclear whether Self will travel to Boulder in time for the 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Should he be unable to coach, associate coach Jeremy Case is expected to lead the team in his absence.

This is not the first health scare for Self, who missed the 2023 Big 12 and NCAA tournaments after undergoing a heart procedure to treat blocked arteries.

Self, in his 23rd season at Kansas, has led the program to two national championships and holds an 837-254 career record. The No. 19 Jayhawks (13-5) are coming off impressive wins over Iowa State and Baylor but sit fifth in the competitive Big 12 standings.
