Sure, there's snow on the ground in Ohio.

But that likely isn't keeping golfers in the state from dreaming about being out on the greens.

GolfPass released its list of the "Top 50 Public Golf Courses in the U.S." this week, and there are two in Ohio:

Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown in Wayne County in Northeast Ohio ranks No. 28. The 18-hole course was designed and built by Harrison and Garbin in 1962. It's known for rolling terrain, undulating greens, and the "Bermuda Triangle" — a difficult three-hole stretch on the back nine that involves hills, water and difficult greens. Chippewa also was ranked No. 22 on GolfPass' list of courses with the best conditions.

Stillwater Valley Golf Club in Versailles in Darke County in western Ohio ranks No. 31. The 18-hole course sits along the Stillwater River and was designed by Tom Littlepage. "Stillwater Valley Golf Club is a destination golf course that lies on acres of scenic country," its website says. "The course gives the golfer a feeling that is not found anywhere else in the country."

The Ashland Golf Club in Ashland, which was ranked No. 34 last year, didn't make the list this year. GolfPass said the Top 50 includes 41 courses that didn’t make last year’s list.

GolfPass generates its annual "Golfers' Choice" lists through recreational golfer reviews from the previous year. Last year, there were nearly 226,000 reviews.

In addition to the Top 50, GolfPass released rankings in several other categories such as "Most Improved," "Course Layout" and "Short Course."

Here are other Ohio courses that were recognized:

Avon Fields Golf Club in Cincinnati: No. 14 for most improved.

New Albany Links Golf Club in New Albany: No. 3 for most improved.

Pine Brooks Golf Links in Grafton: No. 2 for most improved.

Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley: No. 12 for best conditions and No. 24 for course layout.

Raymond C. Firestone Golf Course, a nine-hole course in Akron: No. 21 for short course.

GolfPass will release other lists, including the top courses in each state, throughout the year. All the rankings can be found at: www.golfpass.com/travel-advisor/best-of.

“It’s fitting that a former U.S. Open host venue like Chambers Bay tops our Golfers’ Choice Top 50 for 2026,” Jason Scott Deegan, managing editor of GolfPass, said in a prepared statement.

“It’s a bucket-list experience. The next three courses in our top five exemplify the spirit of our lists. They are all great courses but can often be played for less than $100.

"Golfers’ Choice always gives golfers a variety of green fees and price points as options. It is not dominated by expensive courses like so many other ‘best of’ lists by other golf publications. Golfers who want to splurge can do so with the more expensive courses in our Top 50, but there are other options if you are looking for a more affordable experience that overdelivers on what you pay.”
